That famous goal for Peamount United in October 2013 catapulted Stephanie Roche into the spotlight and resulted in the Dubliner bagging runner-up spot for the 2014 FIFA Puskas Award, behind James Rodriguez and his World Cup stunner.

More recently, the 25-year-old signed for US club Houston Dash, but on Wednesday Roche produced another fine moment of goal-scoring prowess. Playing for Ireland against World Cup finalists Costa Rica in the Istria Cup competition in Croatia, the attacker volleyed home a cracker from 25 yards out. That goal was the first of a game which saw the Irish secure a 2-1 victory.

Not quite Puskas quality but still a very, very decent strike…
