LA Galaxy continued their pre-season preparations with a friendly against Mexican side Club America last night, with Steven Gerrard pilfering the headlines by making his debut for his new employers.

However, it was fellow Liverpool alumni Robbie Keane who got Galaxy up and running on their way to a 2-1 victory with a sweet, sweet goal on the stroke of half-time to cancel out Carlos Quintero’s 7th-minute opener for America.

Showing almost Bergkamp/Berbatov-esque gossamer light control, Keane plucked a long, humped ball out of the ether with a perfect over-the-head first touch before calmly rolling the ball home to equalise…

Supoib.

Well done but wtf was the keeper doing??

Chris — This was the opening tilt of the International Champions Cup. Club America, with the possible exception of their keeper, seemed to forget that this was one of those pre-season friendly tournaments as they only used 3 subs. The Galaxy subbed off almost the entire squad except for Gerrard at halftime.

  5. Fat Nakago says:

BTW….The Galaxy, along with the Red Bulls and the San Jose Earthquake who are playing in this tournament are already in the midst of their MLS regular season.

    That touch was obscene

Doesn’t matter the occasion, doesn’t matter the subs, doesn’t matter anything else. That touch is absolutely jaw dropping. I can’t stop watching this. Unreal.
