Basel well and truly did a number on Benfica in the Champions League on Wednesday evening and that number was five – as in the 5-0 tonking the Swiss team metered out to their Portuguese guests at St Jakob-Park.
Dimitri Oberlin put in a man of the match shift with the pacy winger helping himself to two goals on the night, the first being an incredibly dynamic piece of breakaway play.
Beginning with a Benfica corner, Oberlin headed the cross clear himself and then had the ball in the opposing net just 11 seconds later after sprinting box to box at a frankly astounding rate of knots…
“Regardez ce sprint!” indeed.
