Charlton Athletic’s season came to an end at the semi-final hurdle of the League One play-offs today, as Shrewsbury recorded a second consecutive 1-0 win over Lee Bowyer’s side to advance to Wembley.
However, the Addicks can perhaps find a sliver of consolation in the fact that their goalkeeper Ben Amos almost certainly pulled the save of the season out of the bag at New Meadow.
Honestly, you’re probably going to have to study this one a few times before it sinks in…
Ben Amos has just made the save of the season. Nothing is beating this. Incredible. pic.twitter.com/Js6hDMr0Eq

We’ve always thought the ‘no-look pass’ was a bit silly and superfluous, but a ‘no-look save’ is an altogether different kettle of fish.
For Amos to actually have the wherewithal to make that block despite having his back to the strike is nigh-on superhuman. Absolutely audacious.
If there’s been a better, more impressive save this campaign, we cannot recall it.
