The nouvelle Champions du Monde France returned home on to show off their World Cup to their adoring public in Paris on Monday.
Didier Deschamps’ scarily young, formidably talented squad were deserved champions, with fleet-footed teen Kylian Mbappé making his mark on the biggest stage of all.
However, at the heart of midfield, N’Golo Kanté was a characteristically unassuming machine for Les Bleus throughout the tournament.
Outside the French presidential palace, another star of the tournament, Paul Pogba, serenaded his diminutive midfield mate with a fine rendition of the now famous N’Golo Kanté chant, with the whole squad and even Deschamps himself joining in…

“N’Golo Kanté, he is small, he is nice, he shut down Lionel Messi….”
Trust us, it scans a whole lot better when sung in French.
Football will always need the flash haircuts and the drama queens, but it’s heartening to see such a humble, nice guy get all the attention for once.
The Chelsea man deserves every last bit of praise he gets. A true star!
