The bloke holding the Swansea City shirt aloft you see up there is Mike van der Hoorn, who has just joined the Welsh club from Ajax in a deal worth €2.5million.

The 23-year-old, a former Netherlands U21 international, arrives from the Eredivisie with a decent reputation for being a tough, reliable young centre-half who seems to be improving year on year.

However, Van der Hoorn’s emergence hasn’t been entirely without fault, as this stunningly terrible own-goal from his time at FC Utrecht (circa 2013) duly demonstrates…

Hell of a finish, and under next to no pressure too!

Im an ajax supporter and have watched him for a few seasons now…. trust me, he wont be doing much… id even expect him to play as a back up. for me i feel like they made a mistake in not buying veltman (our other CB), but it seems like theyve gone for van der hoorn due to his physique…. hope he proves me wrong
