After parting company with Paul Clement last night, Swansea have filled the gap by putting veteran midfielder Leon Britton in temporary charge of first-team coaching affairs.

The 35-year-old, who has been with the Swans since their Third Division days, will take the helm on a caretaker basis going into Saturday’s Premier League clash with Crystal Palace.

After finding his playing time reduced this season (his 15th with the club), Britton agreed to take on a player-coach role in mid-November. Little did he know that less than a month later he’d be sitting in the big chair, eating with a big boy’s knife and fork.

Swansea have confirmed that they will continue to look for a permanent successor to Paul Clement in the meanwhile, with further details to come in due course.

Fans will be delighted to learn that Giggsy’s already ruled himself out. It’s going to be Pulis. Anthony Richard ‘Tony’ Pulis.

Following in the steps of Roberto Martinez and Garry Monk. Hopefully he fares a bit better.
