Liverpool 0-0 Tottenham Hotspur – Premier League – 6th February 2012

The Premier League’s enfant terrible, Luis Suarez, made a return to action last night after serving his eight-game ban, but even the gifted Uruguayan couldn’t kickstart what was a rather flat performance from Liverpool at Anfield.

Visitors Tottenham came into the game six points behind second-place Man Utd, but failed to find the attacking spark which has served them so well this season. Instead it was their backline who produced an impressive and disciplined display.

Another man of the moment, Harry Redknapp, was absent for the game after his flight from London was cancelled due to bad weather, but the not-at-all dodgy Spurs boss missed little in the way of goalmouth action in the first-half.

Early in the second half, Gareth Bale was booked for diving for the second time this season, as the Reds started to push for a goal, with Martin Kelly going close. Dirk Kuyt made way for Suarez on 66 minutes, but the South American’s first act was to aim at kick at Scott Parker which earned the striker a yellow when he really deserved a red.

Andy Carroll then fluffed a decent opportunity to win the game for the home side although it was Bale who had the best chance of the game late on, running through on goal but failing to beat Pepe Reina.

A point was of limited use to both sides, with the Reds chalking up their eighth home draw of the campaign.

@ Alan, is it just me or did u guys not do a United – Chelsea report? Really wanted to know what pies thought of the game.

  2. tendon not is says:

On a more related not , theres no way suarez can pass that kick off as accidental. He’s a little evil sh*t.

  3. Alan Duffy says:

@tendon not is – sometimes we don’t get to cover all the games unfortunately! It’s fair to say there was more than one dodgy refereeing decision in that game, though!

  4. red says:

oh sod off, are you there when rooney does that shit? nope. what about john terry? suarez is unfairly targeted because it’s so easy for armchair assholes like yourself to say he’s some sort of poison when englishmen like rooney are just as evil on the pitch. rooney constantly kicks and elbows when the refs aren’t looking and nobody calls foul.

take a look in the fucking mirror you little shit

  5. bill says:

I’m a Spurs fan but I don’t think Suarez deserved a red. It was accidental. None of the Spurs players even attempted to appeal to the ref. Suarez thought the ball was going to come down for a volley but then Scott Parker just happened to be there.

love how the main picture is of the Suarez incident. Get off your spurs loving high horse, and stop all the anti Liverpool garbage. It’s getting boring! From a Shef united fan .

@red Lather. Rinse. Repeat. Got it!!

how convenient that the manchester chelsea game cant be covered on pies. i love the site dont get me wrong but not so much suarez, but more liverpool are unfairly treated and their fans all made out to be horrible people! your right about their being alot of talking points in the other game, how about the pen decisions? or more importantly chelsea fans booing ferdinand, in much the same way that u were happy to crucify liverpool fans for doing to evra. any chance of that incident getting a mention? may help clear the (apparant) myth that u do not like liverpool as a club.
