Soccer - Barclays Premier League - Tottenham Hotspur v Chelsea - White Hart Lane

“Come here Jan, you’ve got a bit of something on your face”

Fernando Torres and Jan Vertonghen had been bickering for the majority of the game with both players on yellow cards by the hour-mark, but, for reasons truly unfathomable to us, referee Mike Dean deemed this nothing challenge worthy of a second yellow for Nando, who was administered with his marching orders with ten minutes left to play at the Lane…

Soft as owt, that. Laughably so.

Vertonghen pulls him down by the shirt too…idiot ref

  2. s says:

I am a Chelsea fan and I can’t blame the ref. He only gets one look and it looked like a rough challenge. Loved the way Torres played though.

  3. Amsterdamadrista says:

It’s always the same with this referee. Sitting upon his high horse
I remember the game West Ham v Chelsea from a couple of seasons ago.
He ordered Lampard to take a penalty 3 times over!!! (Still went in though :-)

  4. dave says:

    yet another piss poor decision

  5. John says:

The girl (Torres) deserved to get sent off. Scratching someone in the face cant even throw a punch. What a P***Y.

  6. Matt in Chattanooga says:

Vertonghen is getting a bit grabby with other’s clothing, isn’t he? first he pulls down helenius’ shorts, now he is trying to pull off torres’ shirt. is he going to untie someone’s shoelaces next?

  7. Herman says:

Good decision by the ref. He jumps in with his arm first. Dangerous play.

  8. Rob says:

Torres should have seen red for scratching Vertonghen”s face earlier, but Vertonghen should be ashamed for his performance too. Hilarious to hear Mourinho call Vertonghen a cheat after coaching Drogba, Deco etc etc

  9. __wowza says:

ehhh. bit iffy, vertongs was clearly to the ball first, maybe the foul was on account of torres rushing in with the header?

  10. Cosa says:

Mike Dean’s ability to get under the skin of even the most allegedly tactical and cool managers is world class

  11. Bob says:

He’s late as fuck, never tries to get the ball, and should have been sent out 20mn earlier. How can anyone argue he didn’t deserve this second yellow ?
