Sheffield United 2-2 Tottenham Hotspur (Agg: 2-3) – Capital One Cup Semi-Final 2nd Leg – 29th January 2015
Forget Harry Kane, it’s Christian Eriksen who has been Spurs’ standout player this season and at Bramall Lane on Wednesday night, the Dane worked his magic once again.
1-0 up from the first leg, the Lilywhites doubled their lead just before the half-hour mark, courtesy of a superb Eriksen free-kick. Indeed, for the majority of the game the Premier League side were in control. But with the tie looking dead and buried, the Blades suddenly mounted a late comeback, with 18-year-old sub Che Adams netting twice. Alas, for United boss Nigel Clough, any hopes of extra-time were quashed by the king of the late goal, Eriksen, who popped up to fire home from a Kane pass.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side now face Chelsea in what should be a cracking final.
