After becoming the first Premier League player to reach 20 goals in all competitions on Saturday, Harry Kane has rounded off a decent few days by putting pen to paper on a hefty new contract at Tottenham today.

On the back of an impressive half-season at the forefront of Spurs’ attacking line, the 21-year-old striker has signed a new five-year deal at White Hart Lane (having already signed an improved contract back in August) which will reportedly see him taking home £35,000 every seven days.

On this momentous day in Spurs’ history, Kane has also taken the opportunity to explain that photo of him wearing an Arsenal shirt which has been circulating on social media for the past few months…

Talking to Spurs TV, Kane explained he spent a year with the Arsenal academy as an eight-year-old and, despite his protestations, the Gunners were reluctant to let him wear his Spurs shirt during training for some reason.

“I wanted to wear a Tottenham kit but I don’t think that would’ve gone down to well,” said Kane.

“I was eight years-old. I was at Arsenal for a year and obviously I was a kid, I just wanted to play football.

“I’ve been at Spurs since I was 11 years-old, always loved the club.

“I’ve been here 10 years and hopefully many more years to come.”

So now you know.
