Tottenham Hotspur 4-3 Leicester City – Premier League – 21st March 2015
A Harry Kane hat-trick helped secure a precious three points against a hard-working and rather unlucky Leicester side on Saturday in their quest for a top-four berth.
The hosts lost Hugo Lloris to injury after just four minutes, but the Lilywhites still found themselves 2-0 up after 13 minutes, courtesy of two goals from the in-form Kane. Just before the break, Jamie Vardy got one back for the Foxes which set up an exciting second-period.
Nigel Pearson’s men got back on level terms soon after the re-start, courtesy of a Wes Morgan header. However, a Kane penalty, which secured the new England man his hat-trick, and then a late Jeff Schlupp OG would ultimately earn Mauricio Pochettino’s side all three points, despite a late consolation effort from David Nugent.
Despite the win, which sees Spurs now three points off a top-four place, their poor defending will be of concern to Pochettino. As for Nigel Pearson and Leicester, they stay bottom of the table, despite a decent display at White Hart Lane.
