Tottenham may not have learned much in today’s Audi Cup game against Real Madrid, but they did confirm that the rumours about 19-year-old midfielder Dele Alli (pictured above, centre) are well founded.
The youngster, making his first start for the team, put in a confident display in which he cheekily nutmegged former Spurs and current Real midfield maestro Luka Modric.
Early on in the game, Alli snapped into action after receiving the ball just inside his own half and pushed forward after a quick transfer of the ball from right foot to left before poking the ball through Modric’s legs and taking off.
He went through the Croatian superstar as if he wasn’t there…
The move drew gasps from a big crowd at the Allianz Arena, and Alli was warmly applauded as he left the pitch in the 68th minute.
It looks as if Spurs fans could be in for a treat this season.
