Tottenham: Danny Rose Makes His Way Into Metro’s Team Of The Week Without Even Playing

In a selection baffling enough to make Garth Crooks wince, the Metro went and named Danny Rose in their ‘Team of the Week’ for the last round of Premier League matches.

It should probably be noted at this juncture that Rose didn’t actually make it out onto the pitch for Tottenham’s rout of Stoke on Saturday as he was otherwise engaged nursing a hamstring injury.

However, that obviously didn’t stop the Metro’s analytical experts from seeing something they liked…

The Metro said of Rose’s performance against Stoke:

Tottenham are back! Or so it seems after a convincing 4-0 win over Stoke.

Rose was one of the many Spurs stars to finally hit their straps after a steady start to the campaign, contributing at both ends of the pitch to ensure the north Londoners came away with all three points.

The article has since been amended with Rose’s replacement, Ben Davies, slotted in at left back instead.

The accompanying paragraph now reads thus:

Davies was one of the many Spurs stars to finally hit their straps after a steady start to the campaign, contributing at both ends of the pitch to ensure the north Londoners came away with all three points.

There. Sorted.

To be fair, the Metro also fessed up to the error, claiming they “obviously knew” that Rose didn’t play and that his name was “included in error”.

Thankfully, Pies have a surgically flawless record on that front, so we are most definitely in a position to judge.
