Tottenham have proudly welcomed a new “official club timing partner” on board just days after announcing that the grand opening of their new stadium has once again been delayed indefinitely.

White Hart Lane Mk.II was originally supposed to be open and ready to host matches in time for the start of the 2018/19 season, though last month Spurs revealed that plans had changed and that they were now hoping the home tie against Liverpool on 15th September would be the first game played at their new ground.

However, two days ago, Spurs admitted that construction work is still behind the revised schedule due to an issue with “critical safety systems” and that the stadium opening had been delayed for a few more weeks.

Skip forward to Thursday and, without even the merest hint of irony, Tottenham have proudly revealed they have signed a lucrative sponsorship deal with a new “Timing Partner” in the shape of Swiss watchmakers IWC Schaffhausen.

We are delighted to enter into this partnership with IWC, which is their first with a football club. IWC has an incredible history and heritage as a luxury watch brand.

They have a meticulous attention to detail and an absolute commitment to innovation – important qualities that we also value at the club.

Meanwhile, the team are forced to play in the car park (well, Wembley) while batteries are put in the smoke detectors and a final lick of paint is applied to the toilet cubicle doors at WHL2.

Terrific stuff.
