Tottenham saw their chances of reaching the Champions League knockout stages drastically lengthened on Wednesday evening after limping to a 2-2 draw with PSV.
The Dutch side took the lead through Hirving Lozano with half-an-hour gone, but Spurs eventually managed to fight their way back in front via goals from Lucas Moura (’39) and Harry Kane (’54).
However, all that hard work was scuppered in the 79th minute when Hugo Lloris short-circuited again…
Red card. Ten men. Team destabilised. PSV grab late equaliser. Two crucial points bunged unceremoniously into the incinerator. Spurs left with a mountain to climb.
Seriously, why is Lloris not having this maddening propensity for self-sabotaging, kamikaze-esque charges drilled out of him by his coaches? Running around like a blue-arsed fly as soon as the ball crosses the halfway line doesn’t do anybody any favours, bar the opposing striker.
He may be a Champion du Monde, but the Frenchman will never be close to joining the elite goalkeepers of the world while he keeps dropping these entirely avoidable clangers.
