It’s no surprise that Stoke fell apart last season after letting Rory Delap go out on loan to Barnsley. Soon as their half-man, half-trebuchet leaves, Pulis and the boys plummet. You could see it coming a mile off.

Strange then, that after learning their lesson the hard way, instead of reinstating Delap to the first XI post haste, Stoke have now released him after seven illustrious years at The Britannia. You just can’t help some people.

Here’s a tribute to The Potters’ throw-in maestro, easily as gifted with a ball between in his hands as Maradona was with one at his feet…

Arrivederci Rory, you beautiful gibbon-armed, farmer-faced wizard…

The epitome of an anti footbaler if there ever was one.

You think a player makes over 300 Premiership appearances solely on his ability to throw a ball? Fucking clown.

  3. Chris says:

@Dave: If you think his last 50/60 Premier League appearances were based on anything else then it is you, my friend, who be-est the clown.

Not the biggest Rory Delap fan but I always enjoy hearing people whing about the “proper” way to play football. As if there is such a thing.

an anti-footballer in all the best ways. that one season when stoke got promoted (where most of these assists are from) was a fantastic season to watch, especially with Wenger and all the others complaining about Delap. unfortunately he became pretty predictable with the whole thing and the novelty wore off i suppose– because i don’t remember any significant influence of his in the last few years… but worth it for that one season!!

God, I do hate that Rory Delap!
