There are 154 names in total in the Premier League’s official list of released players, which was published today, with some rather interesting names.

Forgotten men Florent Malouda, Roque Santa Cruz, Denilson and David Bentley all finally shown the door. Also, Chelsea’s perennial bench-warmer and reserve-in-chief, Paulo Ferreira is also off the Blues’ book.

Arsene Wenger has overseen a particularly large cull at the Emirates, with pint-sized underperfomer Andrei Arshavin heading a list of 14, mostly reserve team players.

To be honest, there are more than a few decent players on the list and you could make a pretty good first 11 out of it, for no money at all.

How about this for a line-up (not including retiring players):

Mark Schwarzer – Nicky Shorey, Kolo Touré, Ryan Nelsen, William Gallas – Florent Malouda, Thomas Hitzlsperger, Yossi Benayoun, Giorgos Karagounis – Andrei Arshavin, Franco Di Santo.

Not too bad?
