Soccer - Steven Gerrard Testimonial - Liverpool v Olympiacos - Anfield

Luis Suarez has given an interview to both the Guardian and the Telegraph in which he openly pleaded with Liverpool to honour an agreement (i.e, to let him leave if the club failed to achieve Champions League qualification last season) that was supposedly written into his contract at the beginning of 2012/13.

Suarez said:

“Last year I had the opportunity to move to a big European club and I stayed on the understanding that if we failed to qualify for the Champions League the following season I’d be allowed to go.

“I gave absolutely everything last season but it was not enough to give us a top-four finish – now all I want is for Liverpool to honour our agreement.

“I don’t feel betrayed [by Liverpool] but the club promised me something a year ago just as I promised them that I would stay and try everything possible to get us into the Champions League.

“They gave me their word a year ago and now I want them to honour that. And it is not just something verbal with the coach but something that is written in the contract. I’m not going to another club to hurt Liverpool.”

“Liverpool is a club with a reputation for doing things the right way. I just want them to abide by the promises made last season. Some of [my team-mates] say to me: ‘We cannot understand that if you have it signed [in your contract] that you can’t leave.'”

The full interview is available here and rather than being some huge anti-Liverpool crusade pulled out of the ether by the dastardly English media, it’s all pretty cut-and-dry: the man wants out, pronto.

“I promised them that I would stay and try everything possible to get us into the Champions League”.

By trying everything possible, I assume he means scoring goals, racially abusing other players, diving when someone gives him a mean look, and biting other players. He can’t really do much more than that, can he?

  2. Though some Liverpool fans will be up in arms about these comments from Suarez and insist he stays, there’s only one inevitable outcome once a player has publicly announced his desire to leave, so the club should now make a deal quickly with Arsenal and move on before things gets messy if Suarez and his team takes things to the Premier League. It’s not like he hasn’t done this sort of thing before.

As an Arsenal fan, I do feel for Liverpool fans having had to sell Van Persie to Man U but that’s how the footballing world works now, loyal players are few and far between but I’m happy that there could finally be light at the end of the tunnel for Arsenal and they can finally get their man and move on with other signings!!!

LYING TWAT.I SAY LET THE CHEEKY GOOFYRACIST CUNT ROT IN THE RESERVES FOR 5 YEARS

  4. One Man Went to Mow says:

I can only assume that Arsenal will be in the same position with Suarez is a couple of years when he decides they don’t match his ambitions anymore and he wants to go to Madrid. Then Madrid will have the same problem when he can’t get a game there and forces another move and so on and so on……..

  5. hio says:

A player of his quality (and age) should be playing champions league – regardless of what you think of him as a person – it really is as simple as that. Liverpool have made a shambles of their football club by singing players that couldn’t play their way out of wet paper bag, so he should leave. Apparently it’s impossible for people to see this without wetting their pants in an anti-suarez tantrum.

  6. Bayou says:

Maybe if he was able to play an entire season without suspensions he’d have a leg to stand on. As it is now, he didn’t give everything because he continually is stupid. I’m a LFC fan and I say get rid of him. We should have shipped him off earlier in the summer. He’s not worth it.

    • Bayou says:

And he has said his issue is with the British media. Last time I checked, London was in England so if he thinks the media is going to be nicer to him he’s an idiot.

Look, he’s talented. If he can keep his head straight he’s world class. I’m not confident he can and I’d rather have the money to spend and be rid of his distractions.

please just sign with arsenal. as an arsenal fan, i dont think hes a great fit in the club, but just sign somone notable to end the daily depression i feel everytime i check arsenal transfer news.

  8. Fnarf says:

If it was really written into his contract we would have seen it before.

His problem isn’t going to be solved by Arsenal. He needs to get out of England. But no one of a caliber high enough to satisfy his ego wants him. Go to Turkey or Anzhi, then.

  9. TravisKOP says:

Once he hands in the transfer request he voids his contract’s 7mil in extras, THEN liverpool will sell him.

  10. Calm Arsenal Man says:

I know that we could find ourselves in Liverpools situation in two years time should we sign him. I don’t care. Everyone is aware of this. If you support AFC then by now you should be aware that there is little loyalty in the game. I say baggage aside and sign him up. Lets finish some of the many chances we create. I just love the thought of cazorla feeding this hungry bitey man.

  11. Dont Worry says:

Hes a fantastic player, a scumbag but he should be able to move.
