Higuain at his Arsenal unveiling

There’s a little snippet of transfer toss being peddled by BBC Sport journo David Ornstein this morning that will sound all-too familar to the Arsenal faithful, with reports suggesting that the Gunners actually managed to agree terms with Gonzalo Higuain over a move from Real Madrid, last month shortly before he pottered off and joined Napoli for a million zillion pounds.

That’s right. It looks like Arsenal had all the papers drawn up and everything in the garden looked rosy until their heads were turned as they farted about with activating Luis Suarez’s various fictional and non-fictional contract clauses.

The Higuain proceedings weren’t finalised and the Argentinian striker drifted away out of the open window and into Napoli’s welcoming arms.

Still, Yaya Sanogo and all that.

Giroud is better than Higuain!!! GOYG!!!

  2. LP says:

    What rubbish!

Napoli offered Real 10mil more than Arsenal and doubled his salary, Higuain then did a massive u turn and decided against Arsenal.

As good as Higuain is I wouldn’t be paying the money Napoli did.

Even Real didn’t see value as he was their bench warmer.

Wenger and Gazidis incompetence yet again. They have no accountability and would be rightly sacked from any other club or company. 8 years of repeated failure and under-performance.

  4. Chris says:

Arsenal need to do them self a favor and get Dein back in, they just don’t know how to pull the strings in the Transfer market. I don’t know if there rusty or just not there strong point. Having no transfer Kitty while the stadium was being paid off has really taken its toll, other clubs are quite savy and can run rings round Arsenal. Having lots of Money doesn’t always get you the best players :)

  5. Borisboris says:

Arsenal will not buy anybody worth noting. He didnt sign anybody durin preseason like other teams because he intends to just move the youth up

Still, I’m sure between Walcott, Giroud, Podolski and Yoyo Sonogogo Arsenal’s front line will easy bang in twenty goals en route to 9 years without a trophy. (Mind you, I heard Benzema and Aguero and Lewandowski will all be available in summer 2014, so keep that cheque book in your pocket for just 11 more months, and then it’s big names all the way!)

What the hell this isnt true.

Arsenal will finish 3rd this season and win a cup with or without suarez. You can bookmark this.

How can you blame wenger when our entire team gets pillaged like native americans by barcelona/mancityutd/chelsea AND YET what do arsenal honestly need? Maybe a goalkeeper and obvs a stiker/wideman suarzhahaemm

Please explain to me what wenger should actually do transfer wise?

    GK chez/fabianski

    RB Sagna/jenkinson CB Per/kos/vermaelen LB Gibbs/Monreal

    DM Arteta/ Wilshere/ Ramsey/Ox

RW walcott/Ox when he get injured LW Podolski/ cazorla

    AM Cazorla/Rosicky

    S Giroud /Yaya S.

That team is nowhere strong enough to compete with the likes of city, and Chelsea. an GK, RB, CB, DMC, Winger and Striker position could be improved. Not all of them,
      But some should be upgraded.

Mate you must be on the same full proof juice Wenger and board are on if you think the players you have down there are good enough to compete for titles. You think that 3 CD are enough to see us through the season with our history of injuries. None of our two goalies will make it into the starting 11 of any top EPL team, maybe Scwesney as an understudy for the future. A prolific striker is a must not these hit and miss we have. Don’t get me wrong, I have some faith in Giroud getting better this year but we need excellent options. The biggest problem for arsenal has been that while other teams have been getting stronger in the last few years we have been getting weaker by loosing our best players and not bringing any/adequate replacements. If we have have no marquee signing this window then expect an exodus of the remaining young talents we have because we would have shown how much we lack ambition and who would blame them. Arsene and the board are just not very smart, they constantly have their eyes on cost (finances) and the perpetual ignore quality/performance and time(time it takes to nurture a young player while there are no experienced players in the team and the time it take to start getting a return on investment from a non tried and tested star player). Tbh for the past few seasons I have been wishing that we finish out of the much treasured CL spot so that it can for e their hand to make a change in the philosophy. However I can never keep that wish alive cos as a fan you can’t help but want your team to win even tho you know it would mean that Wenger can use it as an excuse when he doesn’t spend the following year. One world class striker, one decent even fairly cheap DM, CB & GK. Maybe a winger too, that’s not too much to ask for considering how many have left.

  10. Alex says:

Gooners actually want Arsenal to spend tons of money on options that aren’t any better than our options now? Just for the sake of spending money?

    GO SUPPORT MAN CITY.

  11. Teddy Ballgame says:

Aside from a strong man in midfield I think what Arsenal need most is a player to galvanise the squad. As strange as it seems I think Suarez is the man to do it. His antics can be childish, but I feel that they can also create a heightened match ambience for his teammates to get behind.

  12. TravisKOP says:

    They need depth.

  13. Calm Arsenal Man says:

I never said we would win the title this year. I just merely asked what you all would like wenger to do transfer wise.

We obvs cant spend head to head with chelsea or city. Our options are limited.

What AVAILABLE FROM AN ARSENAL POINT OF VIEW players out there now will fix our squad?

I don’t really dislike any of the players left in our squad after we cleared house this summer, with the notable exception of Bendtner. However, we are about one player shy in every area of the pitch. I’m ok with Schzz keeping his no 1 spot, but we need one more enforcer-type at CB, a holding midfield player with some experience in the role who can keep up with our pace of play, and a solid 20-30 goal poacher up front (NOT a converted winger, sorry Theo). Looks like 3rd place at best at the moment, and maybe the League Cup (if we don’t lose to fucking Bradford again).
