‘Look into my eyes, not around the eyes… when you wake up you will believe that Emile Heskey is a Premiership-quality striker who doesn’t fall down all the time and miss open goals… 3-2-1, you’re back in the room.’

Yep, Paul Jewell, Wigan Athletic’s manager, has confirmed a bid for Emile Donkey. Jewell told Wigan’s website: ‘Emile is a proven performer at Premiership
and international level and we have made what we consider to be a very
good offer to Birmingham City.’ Which begs the question – why?

UPDATE: Birmingham have indeed accepted Wigan’s £5.5m bid for Heskey. Great business for the Blues, I feel. Paul Jewell also wanted to sign Robbie Savage from Blackburn but Mark Hughes didn’t want to know.

A wild stab in the dark… I guess you’re a Blues fan Dan?

  3. Dan says:

I am indeed and to be honest I feel i have been very tolerent of Emile over the past two seasons with us. He was poor last season and was probably at his best when partnered with Clinton Morrison in the early months of his Blues Career. Since then he has been partnered with a number of players, Forssell,Pandiani,DJ Campbell etc. and has struggled to gel.
To get something in the region of 5m would be a great deal for us in todays market.

Even 3m would be pretty good business, I reckon. He must be in his thirties now?

  5. Anthony says:

It’s hard not to be tolerant of Ol’ Bruno.
When he was with us (Liverpool) it was always hard to be nasty about him – he’s so bloody nice.
But nice don’t make a good player, and we were well rid.
Apparentlyhe was born in 78, so he’s not quite over the hill just yet.
