“Angel, I’ve got a Daniel Levy on the phone for you here…”

Angel Di Maria has admitted that he was “hurt” by being linked to Tottenham last summer having been mooted as a potential make-weight in Real Madrid’s colossal deal for Gareth Bale.

Speaking to MARCA, Di Maria said:

“It hurts when you’re always doing your best for your club and then you hear that you might be going to Tottenham.”

There’s one for you Arsenal fans to scoff mercilessly about from now until the end of time.

Di Maria continued:

“I spoke with [Ancelotti] last summer. I wanted to stay and he wanted me to stay as well. He told me that he counted on me and it was up to me from then on.

“I have grown a lot under Ancelotti. He got the best out of me. Things have gone well and I made the right decision to stay.”

Given that he’s got the same bone density as a Weetabix, we imagine that there’s an awful lot of things that hurt Angel Di Maria: light summer breezes, the nearby flapping of a butterfly’s wings, Eskimo kisses, etc, etc.

He didn’t say that at all, he said it hurt being linked with other clubs when you give your all and are happy at your current club.

this is second, or third hand rubbish, get some news.

These people don’t care what the truth is and have very low standards, not only in regard to integrity, but, sadly in regards to the basics of literacy.

Anyone who read the first appearance of the twisted story could see that what he was saying wad that it was disappointing, when he was training hard to get into the Real Madrid team, to find out that he was being touted around by his club. The fact that it was Tottenham was pretty much an incidental, it could have been virtually anyone* but it just happened to be Spurs. And that is apparent in the twisted version of his comments. This impression is more than confirmed for anyone who actually takes the time to see the full original quotes. He doesn’t say anything even remotely disparaging about Spurs…at all!

      * Remembering, of course, that he plays for Real Madrid, and rightly or wrongly, Madrid players and virtually anyone else on the planet with even the rudiments of an understanding of football would consider any club to be a downward step from RM.

But lets not let anything get in the way of some pseudo-media outlets indulging in some agenda driven (apparently) Spurs bashing, that doesn’t even stand up when twisted.

Today has made my life easier. So many selective quoting outlets on newsnow going for the sensationalist headline while selectively butchering his actual quotes to fit an agenda that finding sites that I now know not to trust and therefore can hide from the timeline has been a breeze. Another one to add to the list, thank you Chris
