What with Steven Gerrard heading stateside and the futures of both Raheem Sterling and Jordan Henderson the subject of much speculation, the media are having a field day with Liverpool transfer rumours.

The latest speculation concerns Roma’s Bosnian Playmaker Miralem Pjanic, who, according to the Metro (via Corriere Dello Sport), could well be on his way to Anfield for a fee of £21.8m. The 25-year-old has been one of Roma’s top performers over the last few season. However, with the Giallorossi no closer to toppling Juventus’ dominance in Serie A, the former Lyon man looks set for pastures new.

Comfortable in a deeper midfield role, Pjanic would be the ideal replacement for MLS-bound Gerrard although considering the Roma star’s age and undoubted talent, expect a whole host of top European clubs to battle it out with the Reds for the player.

We at Pies rate this rumour as fair-to-middling!

So why would he go to a team with no hope of trophies or titles and without CL football?
