With main-man Steven Gerrard heading across the Atlantic at the end of the season, Brendan Rodgers is eager to re-stock his midfield with some creative, match-winning talent.

According to a plethora of obviously 100%  trustworthy sources (including the Mirror and Talksport), PSG playmkaer Javier Pastore may well be the man to fit the bill for the Reds – although no actual figure is mentioned in relation to the deal (he cost £30milliom from Palermo).

The 25-year-old has enjoyed an impressive season with the Parisian giants, but according to the papers, the Argentinian has not been offered a new deal by the club, leaving him with less than 18 months left on his current contract.

With Steven Gerrard off and Adam Lallana failing to set the world alight at Anfield, Pastore would add some creativity and elegance to a Liverpool side desperate to re-group after a disappointing 2014/15 campaign.

And, after all, Pastore is the best player in the world right now, isn’t that so Monsieur Cantona?

Mark this one as dubious.
