Steven Gerrard has been talking about life after Liverpool with the Telegraph’s Jason Burt.
Gerrard cannot walk through his home city without someone recognising him. Of course, spotting Gerrard driving or shopping in the Liverpool area is no great surprise; the real thrill is spotting the star in an unlikely setting, like seeing Jose Mourinho at Chessington World of Adventure or Zico in Lidl.
Gerrard tells what it’s like being pretty much the most famous face in Liverpool:
“In this city it’s a very passionate city with red [Liverpool] and blues [Everton], everywhere you go you can’t go out the front door without bumping into a red or a blue.
“It is intense, especially for someone like myself, so I am looking forward to being able to breathe… It will be nice to be able to walk down the street and spend some valuable time with them [family] without being asked a question.”
No need for questions should you spot Gerrard rollerblading on Venice Beach, his hair in braids and arms sleeved in tattoos, or moonwalking on Michael’s Jackson’s Hollywood star.
Just nudge your nearest and dearest and walk on until you spot someone really famous…like Rick Moranis.
