After months of speculation, Manchester City midfielder has finally plumped for a move to Anfield, with the 29-year-old joining the Reds on free,
Having snubbed a £160,000-a-week offer to remain on City’s bench for the foreseeable future, Milner is now on the very cusp of completing his freebie move to Anfield, pending a medical.
Previously linked with Arsenal, England man Milner will add some much-needed cut and thrust to a Liverpool midfield shorn of the MLS-bound Steven Gerrard. He’s also sure to get more playing time with the Reds after struggling to hold down a regular starting berth with the Citizens.
Here’s the statement on the Liverpool FC website…
The PFA have confirmed it too…

Fatefully, Milner will join Liverpool on the same day Gerrard leaves for LA Galaxy. Out with the old champion and in with the 29-year-old workhorse. Liverpool’s midfield overhaul has begun.
However, this deal needs to be the first of many top class signings if the Reds are to battle their way back into the top four next season.
As for Man City, Milner’s departure leaves them looking still harder for English players to comply with the Premier League rule that clubs must include eight home-grown players out of a squad of 25.
