It’s being reported by several sources this morning that Liverpool have once again dashed Man City’s dreams on the rocks of reality this morning by knocking back their “final” offer for Raheem Sterling.

The bid is said to be worth £35million with £5million’s worth of additional add-ons which, with the application of basic mathematics, totals a total of £40million in total.

According to ESPN FC, they have been told by an insider that City are unwilling to go any higher after previously seeing their opening bid of £25million (plus the same £5million in add-ons) rejected by Liverpool last week.

With Manchester United also being told to sling their hook in May after simply attempting to enquire about Sterling’s availability it would seem it’s now over to you, Chelsea.

City will be back with another “final offer”. Chelsea are not going to pay £50m for Sterling. Torres anyone? or will they, please??

Its tempting – 50 million and both parties are happy but…but…if LFC aspire to win trophies I think Raheem has to see out his contract.

Pay him more $$$ but he has to be treated with tough love, none of this ‘greatest young player in europe’.

Putting it into perspective hes only just getting used to playing a full season in the EPL. Made a handful of appearances for his country.

He has a long way to go…if Alexis was worth 35 million pounds, he needs to click his heels together and come back from wonderland.

Brendan Rodgers is the guy who will make him fulfill his potential although try telling that to a 20 yr old being offered 40 mill.

Nothing more nobel than the respect of your peers. Maradona never won the champions league with napoli – did it matter. He didn’t get paid crazy money to stay either – did it matter. What matters is that he knows when he looks in the mirror he knows he was the best.

And so modern football continues its year-on-year descent into abject insanity…
