The Belgian winger joins from Wolfsburg for a bafflingly astronomical fee of £58million, thus surpassing the recently-procured Raheem Sterling as City’s most expensive ever signing.

De Bruyne is to wear the No.17 shirt, previously sported by such City luminaries as Jack Rodwell, Martin Petrov and Sun Jihai.
