He’s totalled just 11 starts for Rennes so far this season, but Watford have still gone and spluffed £8million on Abdoulaye Doucoure – therefore becoming the first Premier League club to actually spend any money (on a transfer fee) so far this deadline day. It’s now 7.00pm.

Doucoure has signed a four-and-a-half year deal at Vicarage Road.

We’ve never heard of Doucoure before so we can’t really tell you anything about him other than he’s a 23-year-old midfielder, has one cap for the French U-21s and, if the general consensus is anything to go by, has been vastly overpriced.

Oh, it’s perhaps worth noting that he’s being loaned straight out to Granada too.

Still, good on Watford for actually trying to liven things up a bit.

As much as I respect your opinion of him being ‘overpriced’ I think I’ll place my trust in the Pozzo’s scouting network (the biggest in the world btw) who have been scouting him for over a year and trying to sign him since the summer. Nobody had heard of Ighalo six months ago either. Don’t give up your day job.
