It had been rumbling on for weeks while AZ Alkmaar played hard ball over their prized asset, but today Tottenham have finally secured the signing of striker Vincent Janssen for a fee of £17million.
The Dutch poacher, who scored 27 goals in 34 games for AZ and broke into the Netherlands national side last season, joins Spurs on a four-year contract, subject to international clearance.

Cracking little bit of business that. Spurs could use an efficient penalty box finisher (as good as he is at pulling defenders around, Heung Min Son just ain’t the one) and that’s exactly what they’ve got. Shades of Huntelaar.
Put it this way: £17million could look like a proper bargain this time next year.
