Recent summers have seen Swansea defender Ashley Williams linked with a number of Premier Leaguie heavyweights and now the Wales captain looks to set to finally leave the Liberty Stadium, with Everton his reported destination.

Williams joined Swansea from Stockport County for £300,000 in 2008, going on to make over 300 appearances and developing into one of the most reliable centre-halves in the top-flight. More recently, the 31-year-old shone at Euro 2016, helping Wales to an historic semi-final appearance against Portugal.

Consistently linked with a move to Arsenal, Williams now looks set to move to Goodison Park as Ronald Koeman prepares to embark on his first season in the Everton hot-seat. The deal comes with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City sniffing around John Stones, with Williams an able, if rather more mature, replacement.

Despite Williams’ age, £10million in the current cash-happy climate seems like very good business for the Toffees indeed.
