Rumours linking Robbie Fowler with a move to the US have been knocking around for a while, but it has now emerged that he has been in talks with LA Galaxy over a possible deal. The News of the World reported that David Beckham’s new club had failed to tempt Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to the States, but were more hopeful of securing Fowler’s services.
A Galaxy rent-a-quote said: “Unfortunatley, he [Solskjaer] said no but we believe we have a chance of getting Robbie. We want to give David Beckham as much support as possible and he would be an ideal signing.” Looking at the impact Juan Pablo Angel has had on the MLS, I imagine a natural goalscorer like Fowler on the end of Beckham’s crosses would be deadly for most teams.
