Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain isn’t likely to be an Arsenal player for much longer with the breaking news this evening that Liverpool have reached a £40million agreement to take him off the Gunners’ hands.

It was reported earlier in the day that Oxlade-Chamberlain rejected a move to Chelsea for fears he’d be stationed at wing-back. Part of the lure of Liverpool’s approach was that Jurgen Klopp has apparently given the 24-year-old assurances that he’ll be deployed as a midfielder as is his preference.

The details of the deal have filtered through courtesy of BBC Sport’s David Ornstein…

So that’s £40million for a player with one year left on his current contract, along with a massive six-year commitment from the buying club. We guess all this must make sense to somebody.

Somehow, with the whole Alexis Sanchez thing poised the way it is, it’s entirely plausible that Arsenal will (reluctantly) re-smash their new ‘fee recouped’ record before the end of the week.

Considering this is the same Liverpool who gave Rickie Lambert £40,000 a week only a few years ago, safe to suggest that perhaps the Fenway group doesn’t exactly know what they’re doing

For 6 years I have watching Oxlade Chamberlain in Arsenal and now my dream has come true. I’ve always wanted Liverpool to buy him one day. C’mon Liverpool, sign him for 6 years and I’ll be proud!

Hmmm…but a lot of us were pretty happy yesterday though when we heard we were getting him.

One more example of why Liverpool will never will the league again. Now Wenger can invest this money on a 17 year old midfielder from Guingamp.

And that’s why Arsenal will never win the league again.

Good luck to the Ox and Liverpool – at least he’ll get a fair chance there. Credit to Liverpool for putting their money where their mouth is. No secret that Klopp’s tactics are all-out attack and bollox to defence! At least it’s good to watch!
