It looks like the Pierre Emerick Aubameyang-to-Arsenal saga is finally nearing its end, with reports circulating this morning that a deal has been reached between the two clubs.

Of course, Arsenal began by low-balling their German counterparts as is their standard negotiation tactic, but the transfer fee has slowly been bartered up north of the €60million mark.

Several prominent sources in the German press are reporting that hands have been shaken, including local Dortmund newspaper Ruhr Nachrichten, who reckon all parties have now struck a €65million deal “in principle”.

Elsewhere, Bild claim that an official announcement can be expected as early as today, with Dortmund also on the brink of taking Michy Batshuayi on loan from Chelsea as an interim sub-in for the departing striker.

Aubameyang ‘s change from Dortmund to Arsenal will be announced during the course of Monday.

BVB collects a total of €63million in transfer fees for the striker, plus bonus payments.

And there is already a successor: striker Michy Batshuayi should come to BVB. The Belgian is to be loaned by Chelsea for the time being only.

However, the transfer of Arsenal’s Giroud has failed. The Frenchman’s family wants to stay in England.

It woudln’t be a proper deadline day if there weren’t a little merry-go-round action being drummed up to drive traffic, so it should also be noted that Olivier Giroud is now being linked with a late move to Chelsea as a replacement for Batshuayi, who will serve as replacement for Aubameyang at Dortmund.

Oh, what a tangled web we weave.

Giroud to Chelsea would be a good look for both parties. He’s better than any other target-man they’ve been connected to (aside from Dzeko).
