It’s a name that hasn’t been uttered round these parts for many a moon, but today MK Dons have announced the signing of Nigel Reo-Coker.

Reo-Coker, who last played professional football for IK Start in the 2017 Norwegian OBOS-ligaen (second tier), has been training with MK for the past three weeks and even featured in their last two Under-23 fixtures.

The 33-year-old midfielder, who MK politely described as “experienced”, has signed for the League One side on a short-term deal until the end of the current campaign (nine games away)…

MK manager Dan Micciche welcomed Reo-Coker on board via the club’s official website:

I’m pleased to have Nigel signed until the end of the season. First and foremost, credit must go to Nigel because from day one here he has worked hard and has been a positive influence around the place.

We are light in the midfield having lost Alex Gilbey to injury so he provides us with another option there. He brings huge experience and great leadership qualities, which will be invaluable to us – we have some big games coming up and he has that experience of how to handle high-pressured situations.

We are both comfortable with the agreement we’ve got and I’m sure he will add to what we are doing here.

There’s that E-word again!

Anyway, best of luck to Nigel. Here’s hoping he can earn himself a Football League run-out between now and May.
