Bloody heck on toast, Arsenal really aren’t hanging about this summer.

With Bernd Leno signed up and on board, and Jack Wilshere released back into the wild, the Gunners’ have also completed a deal to sign Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria.

That’s according to Samp’s club president Massimo Ferrera, who was interviewed live on Italian television station TMW and duly confirmed that Torreira’s move to the Emirates has now been “finalised”.

Sampdoria do not sell unless there are excellent offers. We do not look for buyers. We have natural talents whose values increase exponentially.

Torreira has left for €30million. I bought him from Pescara when no one believed. We bet and we won, paying just €3million.

The money that comes in is used to keep the club going.

So that’s roughly £26million in old money for a combative, tenacious, energetic, ball-winning-and-playing midfielder in the Marco Verratti (a fellow Pescara alumnus) mould.

A fine replacement for Wilshere, and no mistakin’.
