Thibaut Courtois is reported to have missed training with Chelsea on Monday, as the goalkeeper looks to force a move to Real Madrid.
The 26-year-old ‘keeper is eager for a move to the La Liga giants and, after missing the Blues’ Community shield defeat to Manchester City on Sunday, he has now failed to report for training.
Courtois joined Chelsea in 2011 before enjoying a successful loan period with Atletico Madrid between 2011 and 2014, and his now hoping to return to the Spanish capital.
Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has admitted to being unsure of where Courtois’ future lies, saying:
At the moment Courtois is the goalkeeper of Chelsea. I don’t know in the future.
It depends on the club, it depends especially on him, but I hope Courtois will be our goalkeeper.
It certainly looks as though the lanky Belgian will ultimately make the move to Real Madrid, with Stoke ‘keeper Jack Butland and Sevilla’s Sergio Rico touted as his replacement.
With the transfer window set to shut on Thursday, Sarri and co. are certainly leaving it late in sorting out the goalkeeping situation.
Eden Hazard has also been continually linked with a move to the Bernabeu, although the winger was present for Monday’s training session.
