Bayern Munich believe they have nudged ahead of the chasing pack in the mad dash to sign Aaron Ramsey from Arsenal.
According to Jack Pitt-Brooke in the Independent, Bayern are “confident” that they have “won the race” to land Ramsey, whose contract at the Emirates is due to expire this coming July.
Plenty of other clubs are purported to be interested, with Chelsea, Liverpool and AC Milan all known to be monitoring the Welsh midfielder’s situation.
However, Bayern have recently enjoyed a breakthrough in talks with Ramsey’s representatives to the point that the 28-year-old is now expected to sign a long-term contract with the Bundesliga giants sooner rather than later.
Currently wallowing down in fifth place, Bayern are in the process of mapping out a squad overhaul that they intend to implement over the summer, with Ramsey and Eintracht Frankfurt pair Ante Rebic and Luka Jovic said to be prime targets.
Meanwhile, the club are also working towards sealing exits for several long-serving players, with Arjen Robben, Franck Ribery and Jerome Boateng all likely to be cut adrift as and when the time comes.
