Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano to West Ham, Steven Fletcher from Sunderland to Marseille, Julian Faubert to Real Madrid; everybody frigging loves it when the Random Transfer Generator produces the goods. It’s a periodic reminder that the universe is chaos.

January 2019’s RTG offering is gearing up to be a true classic of the genre with word that Kevin-Prince Boateng is all set to join Barcelona. Yes, *that* Kevin-Prince Boateng and, yes, *that* Barcelona.

The 31-year-old has been playing up front for Sassuolo this season and making a fairly decent fist of it, scoring five goals in 15 appearances for the Italian side.

This has apparently been enough to catch the eye of Barca, who are in the process of procuring the ex-Portsmouth midfielder as cover for Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi and Ousmane Dembele, and presumably freeing up Malcom to seek first-team football elsewhere.

Di Marzio report that Barca have “agreed a deal” to sign Boateng on loan for the remainder of the season (with an option to buy) and that the transfer is now but “a step away”.

It is added that the transfer may have come as a “surprise” but the Catalan side have identified Boateng as having the “right profile to strengthen their attack”.

What a weird timeline this is.
