Thank Christ that’s over. The facts:

1) Cashley Cole is now a Chelsea player. Hmm, I may have to lose Wayne Bridge from my fantasy team. And I’d only just signed him. Bah.

2) William Gallas is now an Arsenal player. Arsenal are also £5m richer.

Would you rather be Arsenal or Chelsea on this one? Both are undoubtedly world-class defenders, but Cole is 25, Gallas 29. Is that four-year age gap worth £5m? Plus I have my doubts that Gallas is 100% happy with the arrangement – he wanted to move to Italy, not stay in (a shittier part of) London. Let us know what you think…

As a gooner I’m happy to see the back of Cole. The whole thing seems to have gone on forever. What the hell are the papers going to write about now?! I do hope Gallas will settle, he could be a real asset to our occasionally suspect back line, especially at set pieces.
I think Arsenal wanted more money but were stuck between having a load of cash and no time to spend it or taking a lesser amount and a very decent player too. If Gallas can settle and be happy it might be a good piece of business for both parties, if not he may end up abroad in the new year.
