THE VOTE Is it ‘obscene’ that John Terry earns ‘£150,000’ a week?

76567450.jpgThe sports minister, Gerry Sutcliffe, has branded John Terry’s salary ‘obscene’. Sutcliffe also attacked Chelski’s general attitude to cash. He said: ‘Good luck to John Terry but I think it is obscene to be on £150,000 a week,’ said Sutcliffe. ‘People in the street cannot understand salaries like that. Chelsea are £250m in the red and they may be able to cope with that but it’s not the real world. £250m in the red is not sustainable.’
Does Sutcliffe have a point? You can’t blame Terry for being paid that much – who ever turned down a better salary for no reason? That’s the way the market is, and I’m pretty sure that A-list Hollywood stars, for example, get more than the vast majority of footballers, and for doing much less work.
For the record, Chelsea are reportedly unhappy with Sutcliffe’s comments (no surprise), partly because JT doesn’t actually earn that much – the real figure is thought to be more like £130,000 a week. Oh, that’s alright then…

The main problem with this lies with the fact that John Terry is a cunt.

I agree with the poster ahead. Terry is a cunt and so shouldn’t be earning that much.
But on the other hand, let’s be realistic. This is an industry that is entirely centered on people. Hence the best people will be given big salaries and salaries will increase. That *is* how the world works.
For clubs which are public companies, they’ve got to work in the shareholders interested (by law). That usually means earning the most money they can. Hence they will charge the most they can whilst still getting a sell out. That is the way it is when clubs are companies. If you want this to change, you’d need big changes to take capitalism out of football. But FIFA earns lots of money, so why would it do it?!
On the other hand, I fail really to see why Terry should earn so much at Chelsea, as he wouldn’t earn it anywhere else so he won’t leave to get it elsewhere.

Yes that *is* how the world works – and also it’s how it *should* work. Terry may be a cunt – but it’s nobody else’s business how much Chelsea want to pay him. Only socialist retards see it any other way.

If I were making that much, I too would be laughing like JT is in that picture.

no footballer should be paid more than 2k a week max, with a healthy win bonus of say 1k,they are a bunch of pampered underworked grossly overpaid tossers, that are bankrupting the game…

Some American athletes earn $500,000 or 250,000 quid a week, so I don’t see what the big deal is
