Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Kaka have just been announced on a three-man shortlist for FIFA’s World Player of the Year award. The award voted for by the managers and captains of the national teams of FIFA’s member nations, will be presented at FIFA’s world player gala in Zurich on 17 December.
That’s a pretty strong line-up. I agree with FIFA (for once) that they are currently the best three footballers in the world. My vote would go to Lionel Messi, who has been in stunning form for Barca, but I’d be equally happy for Ronaldo to win. Each has a strong case. Kaka is the bookies’ favourite but I’d place him third of the trio on recent form.
Do you think FIFA have got this one right? And who would get your vote?
