Hull’s on-loan ‘keeper Vito Mannone has said that he is open to extending his stay on Humberside past January 3rd after being ‘pleasantly surprised’ by the fact that the city isn’t quite the festering hell-hole that he was warned about by his chums at parent club Arsenal.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Mannone said:

“If both the club and myself are still happy in January, why not? I’m settled now in Hull, we got seven points from the last three games so we need to build on this.

“I’m just beginning to see how Hull is, and I’m pleasantly surprised because people did not say so many nice things about it, but I like it – it’s at the seaside, and it’s less busy than London.

“I had to be a little bit patient before I got my chance, but in the end it has worked out, and I’ve been happy to be in the team for the last two matches.”

Partially due to a heavy, malignant alcoholic fug and partially due to having my very essence torn asunder by a poisoned kebab, I once spent the worst weekend of my life in Hull. True story.

Hull isn’t at the seaside, Vito – it’s BY the seaside. What a clown.

    Pedantic semantics ahoy!

It is miles away from the sea. But the Humber Estuary is very wide so he can be forgiven.
The fact that Hull isn’t as bad a place as is made out is something many people who have come to work or study in Hull. this is proven by how many students are happy to stop on in Hull and how many are willing to relocate after working in Hull. The centre is just as bad at times as most cities but the outskirts are very pleasant and within an hour or so you can be on a beach, at beautiful seaside places like Robin Hood’s Bay or in beautiful unbuilt up scenery where TV programmes like Last Of The Summer Wine or Heartbeat are filmed.
I’ve worked in quite a few cities around the country but Hull people are the friendliest I’ve come across, tell you things straight and quickly accept anyone willing to integrate into the local community.

Who’d a thought it – Arsenal players telling porkies – theres a novelty. Typical ignorant Southern tosspots….anything North of Watford Gap’s a shithole according to them, never been out of their CHAV luvin’ environment. If they took their hand off it for 5 seconds they’d realise that they are not the be all and end all.

I have had 3 trip`s to Arsenal,Hull beat`s it in all respects, much much better people BORN AND BRED ENGLISH,and a million times cleaner.
Arsenal should be named Arshole the same as the manager.

North-South divide as strong as ever! And if we’re on semantics, then don’t you mean ‘thug’…

  7. Mike says:

No Luke…he means “fugue”..but judging by the article..he’s a brainless little twat! ;-)

  8. Ben says:

Thanks for that Jono. In case you’re wondering, this: ‘ is an apostrophe, not this: ` and neither of them was necessary.

Just a tip from one born and bred Englishman to another.
