Transfer Toss: Twelve-Man Summer Exodus For Tottenham, Eight In At Liverpool

By Chris Wright

Has Pav reached the end of the road at the Lane?

Several of today’s papers are linking Tottenham with a summer move for a shiny new striker, with the Times adamant that Espanyol hitman Pablo Osvaldo will be the chosen one, especially after Harry Redknapp was spotted in the crowd during the Blanquiblaus’ 1-1 draw with Valencia on Wednesday evening.

Meanwhile, several other outlets have picked up on quotes from Emmanuel Adebayor yesterday in which the Togolese target man stated he’d be perfectly willing to join Spurs at the end of the season, if and only if the fans at White Hart Lane agree to stop singing their pithy/racist little ‘You’re Dad Washes Elephants…’ ditty about him.

The Independent have also landed some inside gossip on Spurs’ summer activity, claiming that up to 12 members of the squad will be jettisoned in a bid to lower the wage bill before next season.

The dirty dozen in question? Robbie Keane, Jamie O’Hara, Giovani dos Santos, David Bentley, Jonathan Woodgate, Carlo Cudicini, Stipe Pletikosa, Roman Pavlyuchenko, Niko Kranjcar, Alan Hutton, Vedran Corluka and Wilson Palacios.

Will Joe be out on his arse come July?

Speaking of exoduses, exoduces, exodus’s, exodii, the Daily Telegraph seem fairly certain that Liverpool will be flogging an awful lot of deadwood over the close season, with ‘Joe Cole, Milan Jovanovic, Sotirios Kyrgiakos, Alberto Aquilani, Nabil El Zhar, Paul Konchesky, Fabio Aurelio, David Ngog, Christian Poulsen, Philipp Degen and possibly even Daniel Agger’ all reportedly tagged up and ready to be shipped out.

Though the Telegraph don’t stop there, for they have a list of the eight replacements that King Kenny is going to work toward bringing in come June – namely, Gary Cahill, Lyon’s Dejan Lovren, Jose Enrique, Ashley Young, Andre Ayew of Marseille, Sylvain Marveaux of Rennes, Feyenoord’s Georginio Wijnaldum, and a new striker all expected to arrive at Anfield during the next couple of months.

How’s that grab you?

Daniel Agger to go? What a load of toss.
Though I can see most of the names mentioned fit to leave, why Aquilani and Agger?

  2. Jordon says:

Looks like it’s going to be one hell of a transfer window.

  3. Towson Tom says:

It dos’nt, one or two out, one or two in feels about right, we know the abillity of the players we have and yes we need new blood but to bring in eight or nine at one go is suicidal, how can you tell if so many players are going to gell? One or two quality signings fit them in and look at the market next year, its about continuity – by then it may be time for the likes of Carra and even Stevie to go and will need to be replaced. some of the players mentioned to go may have come on by then (Aquilani, Ngog)and I would keep Cole and Agger and maybe let them go next year it could be a whole new ballgame by then.

  5. EngNor says:

Make that 13, add Jenas to that list please, can`t stand another season with him in a Spur shirt. The words `Highly overrated` were created or him.

  6. ALiddleReality says:

Great news but, ahem, who is going to buy all these wasters, and pay their inflated salaries, and meet their agents’ demands for contract extensions? Given new regulations on spending, will most not decide to sit tight and trouser the wages? It’s not as if most of them want to play football.

  7. Greg says:

Agger is a fantastic player, but he can’t be relied upon to play for half the season.
If a decent offer comes in, I’d have no problem if we shipped him out and replaced him with Cahill.

As for Aquilani, I think it’s a done deal with Juve.
Shame, as I think he’s a fantastic footballer.

  8. LarkLane says:

Everyone knows the list of Spurs deadwood.
But their prices are too high so nobody buys them.

  9. Montesquieu says:

I don’t see half of those Spurs players leaving, just cause they’re services are too expensive for any shite side where they could shine.

  10. Russ says:

Pletikosa will definitely leave because he’s only on loan from Spartak

@EngNor: completely agree; Jenas spends far too much time dallying on the ball before laying off a nowhere sideways pass and he has had far too many chances. Kranjcar on the other hand is a cracking player and never gets a game.

Some people must still be under the illusion that the 28 year old Jenas still has ‘potential’!!

  11. Colski says:

Why get rid of Corluka? He’s one of the best right-backs in the league.

  12. DAVSPURS says:

Clubs will not be spending big and Liverpool ne owners have not spent a penny yet and already they are trading at a 20 millon loss why . This smell like another bad out yank comming Liverpool will be fighting at the wrong end of the table next season remeber where you heard first on who fuck Liverpool up Kenny the dinosaur and the Dirty older man with the young Girl. Spurs will flourish with our new kids on the block and a new boss David Beckham GGGGGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEAAAAAATTTTT

  13. zz says:

Spurs always try and get as much as they paid for players even after running their careers into the ground. Levy is a prick.

  14. Jay says:

I would love all the names you mentioned Tottenham were rumoured to be selling go, except Krancjar but he wont be first teamer so even him.

I noticed what 12/13 from Spurs and 9/10 from Liverpool, and Liverpool are suppose to have such a bad squad.

DavSpurs is a nutter btw and should be ignored at all costs, I cant believe they allow Internet access in mental homes, imagine the damage DavSpurs and his mates get up to

  15. ped says:

i think it’s done liverpool the world of good to flourish mid to lower table as i think they almost seem to take a top four finish for granted, so it’s been good to see them struggle & now come good (just needs to happen to man u & chelski now) i think the fans appreciate this more as well.
by the way i’d like to see cole go to spurs as i think harry would get some confidence back in him & get him running at defences again.

  16. DAVSPURS says:

Dont be fooled by Liverpool the real Liverpool got beat by West Ham and West brom the harder training one has not bean beat in five games stand up the real Liverpool. Kolo Toure was the tip of a big iceberg bigger than the one that sunk the titanic an dthat also had a Liverpool Captain there is dodgy Tempo going round Football and players are running for longer but Liverpool have bean trainig harder said Jat Gerrard i mean Spearing sorry but he is running more along with Maxi Kaut Suares Lucas and the rest of the red faces

  17. Connor says:

exodi only has one i, radii has two from the root “radi” meaning root and “i”, the plural of us

  18. Ryan in Minnesota says:

    @Connor – Thanks, Professor.

  19. reci says:

I agree, keep corluka- to get rid of him would be stupid. our defence has been weak this season, he’s been one of the less injury prone.
And Jenas needs to go, he’s shite and a waste of a regestration place.
We should probably sell all of our strikers

  20. Shelf Esteem says:

Nice one Connor! Another fan who cares about language. I thought I was the only one. Ever feel like Will Smith in ‘I am Legend’? Keep it up.

  21. Dan says:

I wouldn’t be so quick to quash these rumors lads. Agger spends more time on the injury table than he does on the pitch now and i really wouldn’t be surprised to see him go.

All the players on the list to go make sense, Joe hasn’t exactly found his feet has he? It doesnt sound like Alberto will go to Juventus, but what’s to say another Italian club won’t want him?

Players being linked there sound right too, all of which are cracking (pretty young) players.

I look forward to the next three months.
