Nepal saw off Bangladesh (the highest-ranked team in the tournament) 1-0 in the South Asian Football Federation Cup in the final minute of injury time tagged onto the end of their Group B game, with a 45-ish-yard free-kick from captain Sagar Thapa doing the business as the last grains of sand ran through the egg-timer of destiny.

Stand by for some cracking ‘Indian-though-very-nearly-Welsh’ commentary…

Cracking goal, but did he mean it? Thapa himself reckons he did and, y’know what? We’re just about willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on this one.

    ‘theres no time,theres only 30 seconds left,someone said from behind,’nepali national football team captain Sagar Thapa says,’that must have been Meghraj dai’s (assitant coach) voice..And so i changed my decision right then and hit the ball directly at goalpost.i knew i had to hit the ball with more power.i tried.it goaled..so its good.Before i heard the voice i was going to drop the ball ahead of the post.’
