Whyteleafe and Hythe Town had their Ryman Isthmian Football League Division One South match called off with just half-an-hour played when the referee, one Ashley Slaughter, collapsed after being stung by a bee.

After being stung in the 31st minute, Slaughter suffered an allergic reaction to being stung by a bee and recieved medical attention on the pitch from the Hythe physio which caused the match to be delayed for a further 30 minutes.

Skip to the 3:30 mark to see Slaughter after being levelled by his winged nemesis and receiving medical attention…

The Surrey Mirror has since reported that Slaughter was taken to hospital and is now recovering well but still under observation.

Cue the bee puns.
