Whitecaps’ Wonder Goal Specialist Eric Hassli Returns, Scores Scintillating Volley vs Toronto FC (Video)

By Chris Wright

For those unaware, it was the first leg of the Amway Canadian Championship Final last night, with Vancouver Whitecaps pulling one back injury time to salvage a late 1-1 draw against Toronto FC at the BC Palace – that ‘one’ being this sublime slashed volley from Whitecaps’ Eric Hassli, a man who seems to specialise in this kind of thing…

Hassli. The name ringing any bells? Hassli. The man has previous in the ‘wonder goal’ stakes – why, approximately this time last year give or take a month, the big French striker pulled this little doozy out of the bag…

Sweeeeet.

@ Chris – I know we see a shed load of ‘wonder’ goals but dont you think these are probably two of the top ten you have ever seen? i missed Hassli first time round. I know peopple say well its against shit opposition but thats utter balls. the technique required is the same whetehr its down the park or in the Prem. Bllody awesome tekkers for that volley

  2. Paul moore says:

Agree with Ben. That second goal was as good as if not better than Crouch against man city

  3. Van pete says:

That strike was magic. Watching it live was unreal. Hassli is a god in Vancouver! Pure quality strike.

    BC Place though, Chris

and that was a helluva goal

  5. Grant says:

I love the look on Kasey Keller’s face where he’s just like “well if they’re gonna do that, what the fuck am I supposed to do about it?” Priceless quality.

  6. Steve says:

B.C. Place, not Palace. Meh, I know.

  7. jayjay says:

Blood ‘ell….If the MLS produce amazing tekkers like these two goals, I am going to stop mocking ‘soccer’ and take it a bit more serious. Absolutely awesome.

  8. Ace says:

@Grant, i doubt keller’s face showed anything seeing how its miloc kosic in goal….

  9. Ace says:

@grant, that milos kosic. keller plays for a different team…

  10. Cole says:

@Ben – people could hardly say his first goal was against “shit opposition” anyways, Keller played in the premier league for years and was always quality. Volleys like these don’t matter about the opposition anyways because no defender or keeper could have done anything about them

Class player. They love him over there.
