Swindon saw off Stoke City in the Capital One Cup League Cup last night, coming out on top in a 4-3 tit-for-tat game which saw James Collins sticking away a hat-trick for the Robins, including an extra-time winner – though it was his second goal of the evening which coaxed the most curious reaction out of manager Paolo Di Canio, with the coco-loopy Italian beckoning Collins over, hoofing the striker up the arse and sending him on his way…
Mentalist. After the game, Di Canio described his side’s first-half performance as “like watching Stoke City against Barcelona.” Therefore we guess that congrats are due to Swindon for passing the age-old ‘cold, wet Tuesday night at the Britannia’ acid test.
