West Brom defender Gabriel Tamas is being held by police in Bucharest and has banned from leaving his home country of Romania for the next 30 days after being arrested trying to force his way into an apartment block early on Saturday morning in what Romanian news sources are reporting as “an advanced state of intoxication.”

The 29-year-old centre-back, who has already been banned from international football before for turning up to training while still drunk from the night before, was captured on CCTV trying to bluster his way through the locked outer door while looking very “sloshy”…

Apparently Tamas stumbled back to the flats and eventually forced his way in. Police were called to deal with the disturbance found the defender fast asleep on the first floor.

Tamas was in Romania on international duty, though it’s fair to say that his place in the squad for Tuesday’s friendly against Trinidad and Tobago is now not quite as concrete as it was before last night.

West Brom have also confirmed that their investigating the incident though seeing as Tamas managed only seven appearances for them last season, it’s perhaps not the biggest deal if he’s thrown out on his drunk-ass arse.
