The Peruvian Primera Division game between Real Garcilaso and Inti Gas Deportes Ayacucho (bless you) played host to one of the stranger red cards you’ll ever see, with Inti Gas coach Rolando Chilavert being sent from the touchlines for fouling one of the Garcilaso players in the final few minutes of the match.

With Garcilaso 3-2 up and four minutes left to play, the ‘keeper slung a long throw down the park in an attempt to spark a counter-attack though he over-cooked it and the monstrous lob rolled out of play as one of his teammates tried in vain to keep the ball in play.

As Garcilaso forward  Ivan Santillan charged full tilt and slid over the sideline in an attempt to keep the ball live, Inti Gas coach Chilvart dangled a leg in an effort to presumably prevent the ball from trickling away, though unfortunately he also made contact with the player – for which he was shown a fairly ridiculous straight red card by the trigger-happy referee…

For the record, with their opposition sans-manager for the final few minutes, Real Garcilaso went on to score another goal in the dying moments to wind up as 4-2 victors.
